Visual Glitches
I love bugs manifested visually. I encountered this one recently in developing a project for work:
This is something the programmers didn’t plan for, an edge case that someone didn’t cover. But in some of these cases the code still runs, just in an unexpected manner.
There’s a lot of loveliness in certain program errors. I had a post way back in the beginning of this blog showing off some nice bugs. And recently Ben bookmarked a cool thesis (pdf) and service that actually inserts glitches into images, producing some lovely and, for me at least, sometimes almost nostalgic results.

hi Brent, thanks, that is quite flattering, for something I wrote four years ago. The good news is, ive just finished a book on it (and about to start my PhD on the topic), if I have any free copies eventualy from the publisher you’ll be on my list to get it.
